8 Tips To Get You Started in iOS Design

There are number of articles that show how mobile usage has developed and how mobile-friendly content is important. 1. Get to know the resolutions of Apple devices

If you want your design to look awesome in Apple devices, there is one thing that you should know and remember forever – the resolution of devices.

The resolution of iPhone 6 is 1334 x 750 and the one of iPhone 6 Plus is 1920 x 1080. As to iPad Air, its resolution is 2048 x 1536.

Take into account, that though the resolution have increased in the new versions of Apple devices, the files still need to be saved at 72 DPI.

Another great tip to take into consideration is that your design needs to be adjusted to full screen. You should let the content to extend to the edges of the screen. It will result in better visibility and better impression.

Always begin with the basic outline of your app. Remember that the more detailed you make it, the better understanding you would have of what else is needed to be done. You should start designing first for iPhones. When you design your version for iPhone it will be easier to create the one for iPad, because it is always much easier to add some elements, than to cut them.

The new trend in iOS design is bright colors. When you create an icon, app or something else, make sure that it is in bright colors. However, make sure that it is not too showy.

Like web pages, PSD file is the standard format. However, there can be some clients and developers who would like to have the individual elements of the design. So make sure that these elements are saved in the most preferable format for iOS apps – PNG format.

 

7. Create the right buttons
